Description

The South Australia Government has announced a $3 billion investment in water infrastructure for the State, including a seawater desalination plant to initially meet up to 25% of Adelaide's water needs.

The Adelaide Desalination Project planned for Port Stanvac will have a capacity of
50 gigalitres per annum (GL/a) and include:

·         Reverse osmosis technology

·         Intake and outlet conduits to draw raw seawater into the facility and return approved waste streams to Gulf St Vincent.

The Government has announced a Design, Build, Operate and Maintain (DBOM) methodology for the procurement of the desalination plant and marine (intake/outfall) works.

Stage 1 (50 GL/a plant) is to be designed to be capable of being upgraded if required to a capacity of 100 GL/a in the future.

SA Water is issuing a Request for Expressions of Interest (EOI) from suitably qualified respondents (consortia) to enter into the DBOM arrangement with SA Water for the seawater desalination plant, seawater intake and outfall conduits and associated marine structures.

This Request for EOI has been called to enable SA Water to seek to identify and shortlist consortia who are assessed to be best qualified for this significant State infrastructure project prior to seeking formal proposals.
