Review of Cost Recovery – Petroleum and Mineral Regulation Consultancy
The Department for Energy and Mining manages South Australia’s mineral and petroleum resources through responsible, sustainable, effective and efficient regulation and compliance monitoring.
A key objective of the department is to drive continuous improvement in regulatory and environmental outcomes through fostering responsible access and development of the state’s mineral and energy endowment to support jobs growth and increased exports.
The department is undertaking a periodic review of regulated fees and charges that apply to the state’s mineral and petroleum sectors. The review aligns with a two-year implementation milestone for the revised Mining Act 1971 and an ongoing leading practice review of the Petroleum and Geothermal Energy Act 2000.
The key intended outcome of the review is to support the department in maintaining a cost recovery framework that leads to best practice regulatory and environmental outcomes across the mineral and petroleum sectors, while not acting as a disincentive to industry investment and competitiveness in South Australia.
