Description
The Yorke Peninsula Council (the Council)’s Recreational Boating Facilities Strategy Plan
(the Strategy), Appendix 1, forms the basis for the future direction, planning and
expenditure on recreational boating facilities within the Council area. The existing facilities
provided at Marion Bay are assessed in the Strategy as a Category one, with a high priority
given for an upgrade to Category two.
The Strategy identifies that the present facilities are neither able to capitalise on the
potential growth in boating tourism that is expected in the region nor to provide its present
users with adequate facilities to ensure safe boating operations.
Council invites tenders from Tenderers to review the boat launching facility at Marion Bay
and recommend options for redevelopment at this site. The Council will enter into a
Contract for Services with the successful Tenderer.
A concept design report, prepared by Kellogg, Brown & Root Pty Ltd in August 2010
“Concept Design for Improvements to Boat Launching Facility - Marion Bay”, Appendix 2,
has been attached for reference and on an information only basis. Council will not consider
“Design Option 3”.
Council will not consider boat ramp developments for Penguin Point.
