Within the last 10 years the audio industry has undergone a complete transformation of audio standards. Changing from analogue, a linear connected system to digital IP networked systems.

After an extensive period of trialling sound consoles and regular conversations with leading industry associates, the Adelaide Festival Centre’s Sound Department have selected the sound console manufacturer DiGiCo, and their SD series of digital consoles to replace and upgrade the Festival Centre’s FOH (Front of House) control room and Monitor consoles.

The DiGiCo SD series of consoles offers excellent audio quality, efficient and intuitive console set-up and operation in a live environment – featuring built-in power and signal redundancy, providing a seamless  and time efficient connection between FOH and Monitor systems, ability to share channels between FOH and Monitors, powerful on-board effects and processing, and an increased channel count.
Furthermore, of particular interest to the Sound Department is the digital audio protocol used by this manufacturer – MADI.

MADI (Multichannel Audio Digital Interface) is a digital audio networking format offering high channel count and exceptional audio quality transmission over fibre optic or coaxial cabling. A MADI network reliant system will easily integrate into the power and data infrastructure already designed, and soon to be implemented in the Festival Centre. Also, providing for flexibility and avenue for expansion.

The DiGiCo SD series sound consoles will more than satisfy our local and international touring artists/clients as a “brand preferred” option for their touring engineers. These consoles have not been readily available for hire locally, yet are often requested for festivals and large scale productions. This requires the Sound Department to source the consoles from interstate at the client’s expense. Providing these consoles in our inventory will enable the Sound Department to support our major client’s requirements.
