Description/Overview
Energy and Technical Regulation, Remote Areas Energy Supplies Scheme is seeking a supplier for Environmental Remediation Works for the safe removal of Asbestos Containing Materials (ACM) from the surface soil to ensure WHS compliance, site safety and delivery of a prepared surface to meet the requirements for an integrated renewable energy hybrid diesel electricity generation system situated in the town ship of Marree.
Background Information
Marree is located approximately 680 km north of Adelaide and 20 km north of Leigh Creek. It has a population of 634 people (as of 2011 Census) of which 126 people identified as Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander. Marree has a very hot and dry climate in a desert environment. Max temperatures above 40°C possible between October and April. Rainfall is extremely erratic with a mean annual rainfall of 161mm. There is basic telecommunications services including Satellite NBN services under NBN Skymuster plus fixed line telephone. There is currently no mobile coverage.
The proposed site is flat with some existing vegetation cover and is approximately 500 metres North West of the township and approximately 300 metres South from the Oodnadatta track.
