In recognition of the growth and vibrancy of the Strathalbyn Township, over a number of years the Alexandrina Council has worked consistently toward the delivery of the Sandergrove Road Upgrade project. Council has worked in partnership with the Department for Planning, Transport & Infrastructure (DPTI), the Power Line Environment Committee (PLEC) and South Australian Power Networks (SAPN) to identify key project objectives for the betterment of the greater Strathalbyn community.

Key project objectives include;

• PLEC Scheme – SAPN are currently undertaking the undergrounding of power, placement of feature decorative lighting, and removal of overhead power line infrastructure;
• Expansion to the underground stormwater network via placement of a new full length system to better accommodate stormwater runoff;
• Reconstruction of approx. 750 metres of Sandergrove Road, via construction of new asphalt overlay wearing surface, bike lanes, roadside carparking, pedestrian median islands, kerb and gutter, and driveways;
• Construction of a new streetscape including a street tree lined boulevard appearance, landscape planting, pedestrian footpath networks, seating, and public art.
