The City of Mitcham (Council) has a duty to ensure that all road side verges in the Hills area (excluding Bush For Life [BFL] and Roadside Marker System [RMS] sites, with the exception of 1-2m on the immediate road edge and driveway entrances) are maintained to a maximum grass height of 80 mm prior to the Fire Danger Season (usually before December each year), shown on Map 1 in Appendix A. Reducing the grass height is also undertaken to clear sight lines along roads and driveways. Footpaths are cleared to improve access and safety with the final outcome to improve aesthetics of the areas.
