The Department of Human Services (DHS) is seeking an organisation to provide the South Australian Consumer Credit Legal Service to help disadvantaged clients to pursue their rights in relation to banking, credit and debt matters. The Service will also have a role in advocating and promoting reforms to regulation, policy and industry practice to create a fairer financial marketplace.

An Invitation to Supply will be released in the near future and responses will be sought from organisations that can deliver the following outcomes:

• specialised consumer credit advice and casework;

• advocacy and leadership in promoting reforms to consumer credit regulation, policy and industry practice, to create a fairer financial marketplace;

• community legal education to raise public awareness about regulation, industry practices and consumer issues in the areas of banking, credit and debt and other financial services; and

• financial counselling and/or close coordination with existing financial resilience and wellbeing programs.

The successful Service Provider will be expected to ascertain the needs of the South Australian community and deliver this service in a manner that reflects this need, across all State Government regions.
